INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FAMILY PLANNING
October 30, 2018 Alison Hoover
KIGALI, RWANDA – NOVEMBER 2018
Founded in 2013 and held annually in November, World Vasectomy Day (WVD) has been hosted in Mexico, Kenya, Indonesia, the US and Australia with more than 1,200 participating vasectomy providers in 50+ countries doing upwards of 15,000 vasectomies a year. WVD does not measure its success solely by the number of vasectomies performed, but by the quality of conversations it inspires. WVD uses clever audiovisual materials to engage men in the timely and increasingly critical conversation around reproductive rights and family planning. Engaging men in reproductive health and family planning programs has proven to reduce gender-based violence, improve attitudes towards women’s rights and contribute to more equitable societies.
